Mission
The role of the Dexter Orchestras Boosters (DOB) is to support each of the Dexter Community Schools’ orchestra programs, directors and students. Support may come in the way of raising and managing funds to promote orchestra activities not provided by the school district such as help with concerts (set up, ticket sales, etc.), purchase of music and instruments, helping with instrument repairs, providing scholarships and helping organize fundraisers for orchestra travel and student gatherings.
We support our Dexter Community School’s orchestra programs at Creekside (5-6), Mill Creek (7-8) and Dexter High School (9-12).
Group Status
The DOB is considered a booster group under the administrative and non-profit umbrella of the Dexter Community Schools.
Membership
Any parent/guardian who has a student enrolled at any level of the Dexter Community Schools orchestra programs may be a member.
Meetings
Meetings are held monthly usually on second Tuesday at 6pm in the Mill Creek music room at the discretion of the DOB Executive Board. The first official booster meeting shall take place within three weeks from the beginning of the school year.

President
Melanie McIntyre
Role of the President The President shall oversee the Booster Program and preside at booster meetings. The President should attend all DHS orchestra concerts and may preside as MC on occasion. The President may on occasion be invited to speak at Mill Creek and Creekside music concerts at the request of the orchestra directors. The President will be the most direct link to the Orchestra Directors and will delegate responsibilities to other Executive Board members and Committee Chairs and Representatives. The President should communicate and make sure committee activities are on schedule and reported upon each month. The President will work with the Orchestra Directors, Booster Board and Committee Representatives to approve all booster-related funding activities. The President is expected to attend major booster activities.
Vice President

Role of the Vice-President The Vice-President shall work closely with the President to make sure booster activities are on schedule. The Vice-President will perform the duties of the President i.e. lead booster meeting, MC concerts, etc. if the President is unavailable or incapable of doing so. The Vice-President should also be available to attend all DHS concerts and major booster activities. The Vice-President will recruit volunteers for any open position during the year.
Treasurer

Role of the Treasurer The Treasurer shall be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of reports related to all DOB finances. He/she shall overseas the initiation of payments for various board-approved activities. Review of the booster funds will be performed at each monthly meeting if possible, but quarterly at least. The Treasurer shall be the liaison between the DOB and the Orchestra Directors, relative DHS administrators (DHS Principal, the Principal's secretary, and the Dexter Community School financial officers in the district offices.) with respect to all DOB finances. The treasurer also provides, collects and deposits all bank cash at each of the ticketed orchestra events: The Halloween Concert and The All-Orchestra Concert. The treasurer also manages the donor list and works with the programs chair to include this list in concert programs.
Secretary

Role of the Secretary The Secretary shall be the recorder of the minutes of each monthly booster meeting. The secretary shall be responsible for communicating with the DOB about meeting dates and time, putting together monthly meeting agendas, sending out meeting agendas, posting monthly meeting minutes to the website (in cooperation with the booster web master as needed), maintaining a directory of members to include emails and phone numbers, and maintaining the website calendar (in cooperation with the DOB president and booster webmaster as needed).
Assistant Treasurer

Role of the Assistant Treasurer Assist the Treasurer in various tasks. Run and manage reports.
Creekside Representative
Christy Loewen
Role of the Creekside Representative Works closely with Creekside orchestra director(s) to help prepare all concert activities as required. This may include issuing SignUpGenius for volunteers to help with all concerts: Halloween concert, Winter concert, All-Orchestra concert, and Spring Concert. Such help may include such actives as program folding, t-shirts and bumper sticker sales and set up and break down stage if needed. Works with director(s) to set up SignUpGenius for school-related concerts and activities, i.e. Creekside orchestra usually takes a school trip to see the Ann Arbor Orchestra each year. The Creekside Rep may help with sign ups for chaperon volunteers and other activities.
DHS Representative
Sheri McArtor
Works closely with DHS orchestra director to prepare all concert activities. This may include issuing SignUpGenius for volunteers to help with all concerts: Halloween concert, Winter concert, All-Orchestra concert, and Spring Concert. Such help may include such actives as ticket sales, program folding, t-shirts and bumper sticker sales and set up and break down stage if needed. He or she may help director with volunteers and transport of instruments for the spring orchestra festival. Works with Treasurer to assure there is money for the cash box and that this money is counted appropriately at the end of each concert.
Mill Creek Representative
Sarah Hannich
Role of the Mill Creek Representative Works closely with the Mill Creek Middle School orchestra director to help prepare all concert activities as required. This may include issuing SignUpGenius, etc. for volunteers to help with all concerts at the CPA. Such help may include such actives as program folding, t-shirts and bumper sticker sales and set up and break down stage if needed. Works with director(s) to set up SignUpGenius for school-related concerts and activities such as visiting the Detroit Symphony in the spring, sign ups for chaperone volunteers and transport of instruments to the spring orchestra festival.
Uniform Chairperson

Role of the Uniform Chairperson Manages the fitting, ordering and distribution of orchestra uniforms before the DHS winter concert in December.
Poinsettias Chairperson
Suzann Flowers & Heidi Biggs
Role of the Poinsettias Chairperson Oversees the planning of the year's poinsettia fundraising. The chairperson should not be attempting to do all poinsettia fundraising activities by him or herself, but should be in charge of recruiting volunteers to help accomplish poinsettia objectives. Poinsettia Chairs are responsible for communicating with DHS administration to get permission for holding the poinsettia on specific dates.
Concert Program Chairperson
Tiffany Mahoney
Role of the Concert Program Chairperson In charge of managing concert programs with orchestra directors. Makes sure to work with Orchestra Directors to have timely production of programs. Makes sure concert arrangements, student names, contributor names, donators names, sponsors names, etc. are correct. In charge of making sure printing is done and programs are picked up from the printers on time. This position is currently being filled by Sue Major in cooperation with the DHS orchestra director.
Social Media/Publicity Chairperson
OPEN
Role of the Social Media/Publicity Chairperson In charge of organizing all publicity to promote DHS orchestras with the community at large by working with local newspapers to cover concerts and by working with civic groups to play public concerts. Works directly with DCS orchestra conductors to find new promotional activities.
Webmaster
Mark Silva
Role of the Webmaster Manages, edits, and streamlines the DHS Orchestra's website. Cooperates with DOB Secretary to post booster meeting minutes and other orchestra information for easy access. Works closely with orchestra directors and President of the DHS Orchestra Boosters to make sure information posted to the website is accurate and appropriate. Works in conjunction with the Newsletter Editor to post updated newsletters.
Student Rep

Role of the Student Rep Relay information between the students and boosters. Take on small projects requested from the boosters and directors. Manage the Instagram account.
